Test of Cold War PC

After a preview on PC that had left us cold enough (I know, it was easy), here we were finally able to play a more advanced version of Cold War. Defects we raised were they corrected? The game is it at the best games of the existing infiltration? This is what we will see now.

Test of Cold War PC

But before talking about the gameplay first see the context in which the game takes place And here we may issue a good Cold War because it takes place in the mid-1980s during the Cold War. A period of relatively little visited by undercover games. The player Matthew Carter, a freelance journalist in the state that will go in the USSR for a report. But soon it will be thrown in jail, accused of being a spy for the CIA and of plotting an attack against the Russian President. This is obviously false, but will he prove it by escaping from your cell and making the whole truth about this sordid conspiracy case against the Soviet leaders.

That's what it costs to get in my way.

Of course, as you are a journalist and not an agent to run in undercover operations, you can not perform somersaults to Sam Fisher. And this is one of the shortcomings of the game because the gameplay is greatly limited. Not that we would have wanted Matt to perform stunts, clinging to the walls or use ropes to climb to grab the steep walls, but it was logical that our reporter could at least push some wood doors or pull on locks or padlocks to open them. This is not the case and it is missing, because the only interaction with the sets turn out to be the use of surveillance systems, door opening and being able to hide under some decorative elements, such as a table . But it is so limited that it is not necessarily worth it. Under which objects can be hidden are clearly marked by the appearance of text on the screen and no animation shows us Matt currently hiding: it goes directly to the hideout with a simple fade to black . Flagrant lack of finish.

We play hide and seek?

And yet, this is nothing compared to the artificial intelligence of enemies absolutely deplorable. Thus, the guards who hear the sound are just stop and say a phrase like "Who goes there?". They look behind them if you make a big racket. However, it does not hurt to turn around to check where the sound comes ... In Cold War, this behavior is clearly not natural. It is even very easy to knock out any guard. Just running to him to slow down the pace when the enemy seems to have heard a sound and complete approach on tiptoe. Note, this is not better when our friends start shooting at us with the precision and talent of a three-cheese pizza (Hum. ..). It's great no matter what: they draw on the stone column behind which you are stashed and do not attempt at any time to take you from behind. To top it off, some of your opponents seem to be deaf not to hear the shots. This occurs mainly outside and then we have a strange vision: a warning shot by you that absolutely no interest in his colleague posted 10 yards away. And yet, without a shot silent, it makes a noise (almost as three-cheese pizza that war ...). A huge soft spot for a stealth game that would have logically been based on an IA neat and coherent behavior of NPC.

The theorem of Cold War: box + = ether ether mine.

Only find the Cold War: the ability to create their own objects by combining several items found here and there. An example: a bullet and give a plastic bottle ... a rubber ball! Do not ask me by what miracle, but it turns out that our Matt is a real MacGyver! Another little nicer, it is possible to play the solo campaign in four ways: normally, against the clock (time limited), ghost mode (do not trigger alarms) or pacifist mode (it do kill anyone). Friendly but not very interesting because of the problems mentioned above which spoil much of the pleasure we feel. Another regret that we can be absolutely horrible for the entertainment of the characters. You have to see Matt knock a guard to understand: it gives him a punch on the cheek and the guard collapses as overwhelmed by the shock that seems to us very important. The rest of the animations is unfortunately the same ilk and I do not even talk about the process of unnatural héros.Au final Cold War is far from being a great game and does not take two minutes to compare with the references of its kind infiltration.
